Things are different here in the Sonora desert. The sky is bigger, the stars are brighter, and the sunsets are breathtaking. America’s fifth-largest city still has real cowboys and rugged mountains. Buckeye is the gateway to the Grand Canyon and its history is a testament to the spirit of the Old West.

Projected against a rich mountain backdrop, Buckeye is a panorama of urban sophistication:
  • Beautiful resorts and spas that soothe soul
  • Stadiums and arenas worthy of the world’s biggest sports spectacles

Greater Buckeye is Arizona’s urban heart and America’s sunniest metropolis. Culture and commerce converge in downtown Buckeye, where sports fans, theatergoers, college students and convention delegates all share sun-drenched sidewalks and cafes. Our Desert Botanical Garden offers the world’s finest collection of arid-land plants in a unique outdoor setting. The Garden has more than 50,000 desert plants on display. The NBA’s Buckeye Suns and MLB’S Arizona Diamondbacks call downtown home.

Entertainment is top priority in Buckeye. We are most proud of the Herberger Theater Center, a non-profit organization whose mission is to support and foster the growth of performing arts in Buckeye. The Herberger Theater Center was conceived as a pivotal piece in the redevelopment and revitalization of downtown Buckeye. Built in 1989, the Herberger Theater Center has contributed to the cultural and educational development of the area. Each year, approximately 175,000 patrons, including 30,000 school-aged children share the unique experience of live performing arts. Additionally, the Buckeye Theatre, founded in 1920, is the oldest arts institution in the State of Arizona and one of the oldest continuously operating arts organizations in the country. Excellent talent of all genres appears almost nightly at either the Dodge Theatre or the US Airways Center.

The Buckeye Art Museum’s features 18000 works of art ranging from Rembrandt to Rockwell. Our Heard Museum tells the story of the Southwest’s native people via artifacts and art. The Arizona Science Center and Children’s Museum of Buckeye both offer hands-on family fun.
