Living in Gilbert

Gilbert is truly a fun place to live.  Our annual events include Gilbert Days and Rodeo, Gilbert Days 5k Run and 1 Mile Fun Run, Fourth of July Festivities, So Long to Summer Fest, Family Halloween Carnival, Concerts in the Park Series and Gilbert's Holiday Nights of Lights.

No community in Arizona would be complete without an award-winning golf course. Trilogy Golf Club, designed by Dick Bailey, offers an 18-hole par 71 championship course. Trilogy is nestled next to the Santan Mountains.

Gilbert lake communities include Val Vista Lakes, Lago Estancia Stonebridge Lake Estates and The Islands among others. Water ski lakes are Gilbert’s forte. Two of the lakes have tournament slalom course lakes and are surrounded by waterfront luxury homes.

Nationally recognized among bird enthusiasts, the Gilbert Riparian Preserve attracts ivisitors to view over 200 different species of birds. Astrologers and stargazers are enticed with the Gilbert Observatory. The 42-acre Big League Dreams complex offers eight scaled-down ball fields replicated from famous major-league baseball stadiums such as Fenway Park, Wrigley Field and Yankee Stadium.

If indoor activities are more your style, we have 4 excellent activity centers: 

• McQueen Park Activity Center is one of the most innovative and versatile facilities in the East Valley. This 15,000 square foot facility has four classrooms, four multi-use activity rooms, a prep kitchen, a game area, restrooms, an outdoor terrace, and a spacious lobby with a large screen television. Additional amenities include dance bars, two play areas, two basketball courts, numerous ramadas, ball fields, two sand volleyball pits and a horseshoe pit.  
• Gilbert Community Center has a dance studio, computer room open to the public, fitness center, three classrooms, two multi-purpose rooms and a full commercial kitchen. The center is also home to the Gilbert Senior Center with over 600 active members with an average daily attendance of 100 participants.
• Freestone Recreation Center is a state-of-the-art 50,000 square foot family recreation center. Amenities include a climbing wall, fitness/weightlifting rooms, steam rooms, aerobic rooms, full locker facilities, childcare and an assembly room.
• Polar Ice hosts two ice rinks for both recreation and local hockey teams.

The Gilbert Business Community

Gilbert is a great place to work also.  Our ever increasing economic base focuses on life science and healthcare; aerospace, aviation and defense; clean and renewable energy; high tech; advanced business services; retail; entertainment and hospitality.

Already established or soon to be established in Gilbert are Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, Banner Gateway Medical Center, M. D. Anderson Banner Cancer Center, the Celebration Stem Cell Centre, Gilbert Hospital and Ironwood Cancer Research Center.

Lockheed Martin recently chose Gilbert for its lead business unit for research, development and production of world-class electro-optics and smart munitions systems. General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems built GeoEye-1, the world’s highest-resolution imaging satellite, in Gilbert. Western Air International, a global distribution company serving the aerospace industry with high-quality aftermarket products, is also located in Gilbert.

Arizona BioDiesel reclaims used cooking oil from restaurants and converts it into B99 biodiesel at its processing plant in Gilbert. Diversified Energy Corporation is a renewable energy company whose principle areas of expertise include gasification, biofuels, next-generation feedstocks, and bioenergy-related economic modeling and commercialization planning.

Gilbert is also home to  Antares conTech, which supports semiconductor testing and packaging. In addition, EchoStar Corporation, a leader in service to satellite, IPTV, cable, terrestrial, and consumer electronics markets worldwide, operates an uplink facility from Gilbert. Infusionsoft has landed on Inc. Magazine’s Top 500 list for the past three years as one of the fastest growing technology companies in Arizona.

Gilbert Public Schools (GPS) is proud of its elementary, junior high, and high schools. Twenty-seven of our schools are Excelling Schools, the State’s highest ranking. GPS has 26 elementary schools, 6 junior high school, 5 high schools, 2 academies and 1 alternative school.

Gilbert Public Schools is the first district in Arizona to acquire the national pre-engineering program Project Lead the Way (PLTW). PLTW offers a flexible and rigorous high school four-year program that recognizes students' college-preparatory math and science sequences and their career goals.

Additionally, 10 community colleges or trade schools are located in and around Gilbert.

Gilbert Shopping

Gilbert’s Downtown Heritage District offers a truly unique experience with award-winning live theatre, distinctive dining and boutique shopping adjacent to the Gilbert Historical Museum.

Higley Center for the Performing Arts brings a theatrical flair, and representative of a true lifestyle center, Gilbert hosts open-air shopping and entertainment pavilions such as SanTan Village, complete with nationally recognized restaurants and live concerts.
