Living in Litchfield

Our history is as rich as our scenery. In 1891, Dr. Alexander John Litchfield, the first veterinary surgeon for the territory of Arizona, bought 80 acres of land in the Salt River Valley. Dr. Litchfield studied the relatively new science of irrigation engineering and was instrumental in building an early system of canals in what was then an arid desert. Many of these canals are still in use today.

The Litchfield Center for the Arts offers three stages for live performances including a 1,550-seat concert hall. Downtown is also home to the Vision Galley, the City's art gallery. Litchfield has excellent golf facilities and is graced with near perfect weather - more than 330 sunny days a year with an average temperature of 85 degrees. But the most astonishing thing about Litchfield is its amazing number of springs and lakes.

Fulton Ranch is the newest Litchfield lake community.  Its contemporary home designs range from 1,386 sq. ft. condominiums to custom luxury waterfront homes.

Some of the best views  are the result of a balanced blend of lakefront property bordered by lush greens and fairways of well maintained golf courses. This is definitely the case in subdivisions such as Crown Point, The Island at Ocotillo and The Vistas at Ocotillo.

In addition, several institutions of higher learning and workforce development are located in or near Litchfield.
