Living in Goodyear
|
|
Nestled in the shadows of the Estrella Mountains, Goodyear is one of the fastest growing cities in the valley. A mere 20 minutes west of downtown Buckeye, Goodyear offers all the advantages of a small community with all the cultural and entertainment resources that Buckeye has to offer.
Our scenic mountain views, desert vistas, wide open spaces, golf courses, lakes, parks and palm-lined streets have already attracted residents who are among the most affluent and best educated in the state. Our 320+ sunny days assure an active lifestyle year-round. We are also the Spring Training home of the Cleveland Indians and the Cincinnati Reds. The 4-star Wigwam Golf Resort & Spa in neighboring Litchfield Park is less than a mile from Goodyear.
Goodyear exists today because of the cotton of yesteryear. It was part of 16,000 acres purchased in 1917 for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company to grow cotton. Cotton used to make rubber tires for airplanes in World War I was in short supply because foreign sources were at war. The small community that formed as a result of the Goodyear Farms cotton industry first became known as "Egypt" for the Egyptian cotton grown there and but was later named "Goodyear."

The Goodyear Business Community

Goodyear is becoming a hub of development activity. The City’s location on Interstate 10 as well as direct access to rail and air transportation, and an educated work force make Goodyear an unbeatable location for office or industrial development.
By offering long-term, affordable and reliable water and power supplies, inexpensive expanses of land where industries can build-to-suit, a cost of living below the national average and a wide array of affordable and executive housing, Goodyear has already attracted several large employers like Lockheed Martin. We are the new western home of Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Amazon.com, and Macy's Internet Fulfillment Center. Numerous industrial/office parks are already under development.
With about 90 percent of its total 189 square miles of affordable land still available for development; Goodyear is a city of great business opportunity!
